Information Overload is a serious problem with me, specially when I am exploring new ways to keep bussy. Same happens when I try to accomplish too many things in relatively shorter span of time. Though not every time I succeed in accomplishing my objectives, however this do give me a idea of each topic/job I strive to accomplish. So whats the way out for information / "to do" list overload. Dedicate a notebook for my Jobs, Write my main goal on the cover page Then dedicate some sections for separate field of job Track each day progress Or if you are a geek consider using Sunbird . Information overload though must be avoided. On the brighter note it keeps me bussy.

After a long wait its official I am a writter. The Latest edition Of LINUX For You (December 2005) is being published with my PostgreSQL Tutorial on page 94. This has materialized after a long effort and rewrites. I would like to thank almighty Lord and everyone including Tina,Samartha who helped me out with the write-up.

While I was going through Sqlite documentation. I found this database (Though it is not one in true sence) is very flexible.It could be used as a prototype for your project. Moreover the best part I liked about it was, the ability to write a front end application in windows command shell. Which goes something like this Download the sqlite application Create a database by sqlite3.exe test.db Create the tables Write a simple batch file to query and insert data into database I would come up with more examples lateron on my blog.

A recent story in TOI gave me jitters. The Story was of an employee employeed at a reputed organization and comment he made about on of his institution. The babus of the institution came very heavily on this poor chap who shared his experience with the world through his blog. As a result he may lose his job and have to sit at home. This is certainly a new era where words on your blog, can shake the world and your job. Let me be a bit cautious about what I key in here, you know guys I am not interested in loosing my job , but wait I must speak up freely "FREEDOM OF VOICE" you know.

Just went through the article on Hindustan Times which compares Agents in BPO to Roman Slave. I believe it has actually over said every thing. BPO too has the same ingredients of a conventional industry. The produce is customer satisfaction [ Which is barely achievable :-) ]. The front runners are the agents who take the fire in real time and provide solutions . Some good chaps with their head sets listen to the same recorded call at their own free will and speed , and like a good critic would always bother the agent just because they have the time to listen and comment and not to listen and provide. More the company makes money by not paying incentives for the sales a agent did if these critics gives a bad score to your performance. So if a process is not giving good revenue to the company you know where to get it from. Lets go into a conventional industry of manufacturing the front runners are labor at the machine. They tightenup the same screw every day and oil the same joints...

After 2 months of delay due to rains. I finally was able to attend office party. Party is a word that was alien talk to me after my Engineering . I forgot dance steps and as a result was dancing like being electrocuted. Anyways this party has pumped in, the versatility I know I had.It Helped me to look around my organisation and yes gave me something to talk about for some days. Next Party would be 3 months down the line and I know what to do on that day. .. ..

Last few days were like drama for me . My room mate Avi Haldar was absconding with my precious laptop. I was dejected and sad for the fact I lost my laptop and above all the precious data too. I dont know but somewhere deep within I was sure that I would get my laptop back. Probably this was because of the faith in almighty or I could not accept the fact that "My Laptop was stolen by my room mate, who was serving in a reputed company." Anyways the moral of whole drama was for hard earned money you get more mileage per liter. But of-course theirs a flip side to this related to Maya .. .... ...

This is a miracle for me 4 Months since WindowsXP installation on my Laptop, and its still working !!!!!! . Shocking , I know this is the longest time WindowsXP could bear me. The reason , for WindowsXP to sustain so long could be : Regular windows patch update . Regular Antivirus update . Offcource the usage level has changed from Developer to office user. This reduces the workload and time spend on Laptop. But again I love Linux.

Its fun till the time you are kid , you have all the means to quarrel , be naughty and mess with people around you. Same is the case when you start in office. Till you are trained you can laugh quarrel, and do all kind of flirting around with peers. Once you are labeled as Mr. XXXX with some name plate that says YYYYY you have to cut all your kid behaviour and fun out. You are now expected to be diplomatic and error free machine. This is what has been bestowed on me on auspicious day of Thursday. The same happened in Sai Hertz also where I was given tons of responsibilities from the word go, of project SaiPACS. At this stage of upliftment I thank my lord from deepest of my heart and request him to bless me with wisdom and clear thinking which would earn me, the same trust , reputation and love earned at Sai Hertz and NIIT Una.

It took us a century to discover leisure in air travel. We always strove to make travel less stressful and more fun. In start of 20 Century we came across many luxury liners that could sail across continents. Our attempt for success with luxury liners were hampered by incidents like Titanic and fire on Queen Elizabeth. Finally we conquered the element water for travel. Now its turn of air so we human build airplanes which we were planning to extend into luxury planes, but 9/11 hampered it like anything. Now thank goodness due to low cost airline a budget traveler can also think of traveling by plane. So what the elite would have done ? They went for luxury planes and Boeing. The latest attempt is Airbus A380 which would be like any luxury cruise. Emirates would be the first commercial airline to purchase and fly them. And Heathrow would be the first Airport to handle the plane they call the terminal as Pier 3. Looking forward for a day when I would own one of those Airbus A380

Rains troubles Indian Urban and metro region. It rained in Mumbai and their we could see dal lake , now it was turn of Delhi and NCR, after some showers what we could see water logged roads, no electricity and slow moving traffic. Many in my office could not show up due to rains. I believe we are in medieval age of Indian Modern era , we are too much focused on GDP and inflation. Lets take a break and think about basic amenities to make things move smoothly. Else we would have to lose foreign investment to China. Manmohan uncle please put some money into our basic infrastructure , I know you have loads of money stolen from me in form of tax.

Will anyone stop this government on taxing. These $%%%&"()!¬^&$ are taxing our hard earned money like toilet paper. The recent "The fringe benefit tax (FBT)" is one of the many tax implemented by this $%%%&"()!¬^& government. I am fed-up by this governmentnt and pray for re-election atleast we would not have to pay tax on withdrawal of our OWN money. Or let me find a solution how could I save tax. The latter solution is much better in this case , where as former would depend on Sonia Anty and Advani Uncle.

I was looking for a website that would meet my all music needs. For this I searched around a lot but was not successful till date. Lately I found smashits.com , this site with a free account allows access to loads of song in its database. Thought it does not allow you to download the music the simple way. However if you look around their is a easy way to download music. Again the music database is enourmous I could find songs from "Tere Ghar ke Samne" movie to the latest one from "Salam Namste", and yes they all are full lenght songs no clips. One can compile a web CD that allows to compile favourate music as per your prefrence and later listeing to the selected music only. So all blessed with broadband give it a try..

Its 0300 Hrs IST , I have nearly finised my packing for europe trip

Last month was full of changes and new expectations. This was the reason I could not write my blog. Past days changes varied from industry to personal. I switched industry and my beloved lord changed my destiny. You never what lord have for us in his closet of gifts.

I completed one month in gurgaon on 07 August 2005. My schedule includes office cab , Security Check , Training Room , Assessments , Coffee machine and back to home.

Change is always painful, same is happening with me after some great years in Software development industry I am stuck with frustation of software development process. I require a time off from the busy schedule and brain hammering procedure of software development. For this I decided to change the industry , now this change is truly a risky one. But as of now I have taken a decision I would stick to it let it be any thing.

This was the theme of my living for last one week and it ended at NIIT. Today itself I got the offer letter from a beautiful girl. The process was not easy going, I was scanned and tested with aids like grammar Test , aptitude Test , Personal Intro Session , OOP's also known as Operation Manager round and then the salary negosiation. I must say the girl at Salary Negotiation was much matured by work process she had a confined personality which means a "don't mess with me" kind of air around her. More over the process was great I am happy I am in a Company that has a brand and is know overseas also. Now its upto me to show my ability and I am sure if my this new office is not effected by the Office politics syndrome I would be in the HR in few days. At last thanks a lot my lord for the break. Note: If anyone at NIIT does not like the post please do let me know, but be assured I am not going to remove it

Advani visited Pakistan and his home town, suddenly Pakistan creator Jinah became Secular. Going back to 40's we note Pakistan was created because of castism as Muslim league was skeptic of minorities / Muslim rights , being in India. Coding is fun , you have the power of creator just like Jim in Bruce Almighty. But some times this becomes the most frustating job. Specially when the people you are working for are non-technical. I look back and note that since 2002 I have not been away from computers for more than 24 Hrs thought it is fun but it also takes your nerves out . You have no recreation no movie no outing and you get e-Lectrified with computers. As of now I am fed-p with my techi image and would like to go into himalayas for meditation and rejuvination. May be I am in emotional burnout phase. But namsumiran (chanting gods name) would help me regain myself.

Instant Messenger is a great tool to be in touch, and when we look for I.M in open source the first name that pops up in mind is Jabber, No doubt jabber is great but I had a bitter story with jabber which goes something like .... Downloaded jabber-1.4 and decided to deploy it on Red Hat 7.2 with Intel 600 Mhz and 128 SDRAM, no the usual ./configure , make all, make install process did not followed when all was ready to be installed, as some package dependency failed. These dependancy were satisfied by downloading MB's of more rpms and after a struggle of 5 hours I was able to install Jabber. Now came the time to fire the jabber client (in those days jabber.com client was freely download-able and using it was like breeze.) and start chatting Time passed , server crashed no one bothered to restore the service Today I visited jabber.org and came to know about Jive , Since I want to avoid ./configure , make all, make install process I decided for a rpm install and ended up dow...

e-Mails are great they give you instant shocking news and are swift to send message. The send button addict never thinks before clicking it. But what about those mail which are send with out send button click sequence. They bug you and sometimes makes you feel ashamed when one of your relative looks into your mail box , imagine those Viagra Spam message in your mail and your wife passes a suspicious look at you, opps do you need a explanation ;-) . I would say these Viagra mails are send by some in-experienced sales person. If I would have been in his / her place I would have send a "Get Married and kill yourself" promo mails. Surely spam gives and takes . It gives you the current international rates of viagra and what it takes is the threat that you wont be able to buy Viagra when you are 60 down as government would have over taxed you leaving you with no extra money. It was the first financial year close for SaiPACS which called for loads of pressure, as it was my responsibility to maintain and develop frontend, backend and business logic for SaiPACS all eyes were on me. Thank Mighty, the financial year close was smooth on all fronts and two years of hardwork materialized with positive and delighted results. After all this ups and downs in gone months , I finally got some time for myself. But these past days I got so much obsessed with code and SQL scripts that I am not able to get through this workaholic hangover, I am left with blank, I don't find any thing entertaining (other than codes) that would re-energize me. I wonder if I am computer edict ? , in that case god save me, after all the blankness of code is itching me. Now and then I pop on to some website to get code enriched. God Save me , I need to change my tracks such that I get all flavours of life.

Is Red Hat moving away from the Open Source Commitment ? Recent media coverage about Red Hat News.com and Osdir.com was to highlight this very fact. Open Source projects are known to preserve the essence of innovation, a developer is free to develop deploy according to his/her imagination and will, he is free not only to innovate but is relieved of licensing terms. Till now this is what I used to believe, as an open source developer but, the strategy change made by companies like RH is slowly proving that Open Source is a medium for releasing demo version of their commercial application and if you need the real stuff one would have to sign up a agreement which is quite similar to proprietary solutions but with a catch of source. In other words , RH says "You can use my stuff, please download it from the net" and the fine print says "Oh ! that was to happen as you did not spend any amount of money for this thingy you will not have it". Shame on you Red Hat ! th...

Never forget and lose a chance to thank people who have actually helped one to rise, with this though I thanked LINUX For You people today, these people acknowledged and published about SaiPACS , which indeed became a life time achievement for me. With lord's wish and will I got the thought of thanking these people. Today I feel relieved after expressing gratitude to Ms. and her team for all they have done for me , though it was her greatness that she found sense of duty in all they have done for me and Linux community.

Be satisfied for what you have, but I wonder if one goes by this notion s/he would never strive or struggle to gain. This would result in death of dreams and aspirations which would again diminish sorrow, agony and pain. Thus one would never do Karma because s/he ought to be satisfied , no matter what, when Karma stops their would be no results, and thus the very existance of "being" gets questioned. In contrast to all this if we go by the Bhagwata Gita which says do the Karma dont desire for results , would help us to understand "Be Satisfied" i.e do your best to achive and dont desire for results. This again brings us to a round about situation, why should I do Karma if I dont know what would be its outcome. Ever wondered how does god reply to our prayers and wishes, yesterday in the movie Bruce Almighty staring Jim Carrey, he acted as God and used his Macintosh for replying to all prayers. But in real life nothing of this kind happens , then what happens to our prayers ? My wild guess says : Our Prayers get answered when they are full filled, which is something like Aknowledgement for the Prayers Nothing, with our prayers we prepare our sub-conscious mind for the results Ok , fine with our prayers what about our chanting ( namsumiran ) we do ?, Again my wild guess says : Chanting makes us focused i.e increase our concentration Nothing, Chanting makes sure our head is not empty or worse is not occupied with unhealthy thoughts More on these kinda stuff later

Critics help a lot. These people were silent for a while but now have reinforced themselves with more critics and thank god they are a full gang against a single me. This increased attention and criticism is helping me many folds, my learning time is short , solutions are available faster than problems arrive. Inspite of all this I am glad that my lord is with me helping and teaching me every moment, it does not matter if he (lord) is using my critics to teach me. Children are always happy moreover they look out for reasons to be happy. They know how to find happiness in small things like finishing the homework and going for play makes them happy, though homework is a torture for them they overcome the tourture with thought of playing in ground. Looking at us adults we find all possible reasons to remain in sadness, this sadness comes most of the times as a result of someones achivement or success. When we adults would learn to find happiness in small things. Thus from my pack of new year resolution one would be to find happiness in small things, so as to make things lighter for me. I have just found one reason to be joyed of , World Space is playing Main Aisa Kyun Hoo from Lakshya . This is easy, even swami says our true state is happiness.

After the tag I earned, I am all set for a great future. My competitors are at backfoot and feeling the heat, but with God's grace and will I am all set for a future which is already basking in the grace of almighty lord. Now its time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of hard work I have done. Thanks Lord for all the success, and love me with all your grace.

Many e-mails wishing Christmas and New Year would be send accross the globe , which makes it ideal time to spread virus, looking back into history we find that maximum number of reported virus outbreaks were on Christmas and new year eve. As people ignorant of everything just click on read, to realize that they have opened a Pandora box. So to be sure that the New Year or Christmas wishes does not infect ones PC. Lets migrate to Linux, and big blue is giving help as a guide if this haunts you better update your virus definitions, but what will piracy user do ? Poor they.
